JetBrains Central Console main Help

Cloud providers

By default, your organization's remote AI tasks run on JetBrains Cloud, which is managed by JetBrains and requires no configuration on this page.

Bring Your Own Cloud (BYOC) lets you run these tasks on your organization's own cloud infrastructure. Use it when you want agents to run in your own cloud environment, for example, to access internal resources.

Configure BYOC on the Cloud providers page. In the sidebar, under Integrations, select Cloud providers.

Connect an AWS account

To connect an AWS account, you deploy the operator, a JetBrains component that manages agent workloads, using a CloudFormation template that JetBrains Central Console provides. You then register the operator's public key in JetBrains Central Console to authenticate the connection. The operator runs entirely inside your AWS account and:

  • Manages the EC2 instances and storage that agent tasks need, in the region where you deployed it.

  • Polls JetBrains Central Console for scheduled agent work and reports status back.

Why the operator public key is safe to share

CloudFormation generates an asymmetric key pair inside your AWS account. The operator uses the private key to sign short-lived authentication tokens. You register only the public key with JetBrains Central Console, which uses it to verify those tokens.

Add a cloud provider

  1. In the sidebar, under Integrations, select Cloud providers.

  2. Click Add cloud provider and select Amazon Web Services.

A card for the new connection appears with the Not connected status. The card is a draft and is not saved until you click Connect. Clicking Cancel or leaving the page discards it.

  3. In the Display name field, keep the default name or enter a name to identify this connection. The name is required and cannot be empty. We recommend using distinct names so you can easily tell connections apart.

  4. Select a region in the Region field. This selection determines the installation template that JetBrains Central Console opens. Choose the region where you plan to deploy the operator and run agent tasks, for example, the same region as the internal resources your agents need to access, to reduce network latency. For more information, see AWS Regions. The region is chosen when the connection is created and cannot be changed afterwards.

  5. Click Open template. You are redirected to AWS, where you sign in to the target AWS account. The AWS CloudFormation quick-create page opens with the stack name, organization ID, and compute endpoint pre-filled.

A stack is a collection of AWS resources that CloudFormation creates and manages together.

  6. Deploy the CloudFormation stack from the template in the AWS account where you want agent compute to run.

Deploying the stack creates the operator and an asymmetric key pair. The private key stays in your AWS account. The template automatically exposes the public key as OperatorPublicKey in the stack outputs, which are values you can view after deployment.

  7. In the AWS CloudFormation console, select the deployed stack and open its Outputs tab. Copy the entire value of OperatorPublicKey.

  8. Back in JetBrains Central Console, paste the copied value into the Operator public key field, then click Connect.

The public key is safe to share. Your private key stays in your AWS account.

Connect stays disabled until you paste a key.

The card shows Connecting... while the connection is being established, then Connected when it succeeds. The region is displayed below the provider's name.

Connecting a provider does not make it active. To run new remote AI tasks on it, set it as the active provider.

Manage cloud provider connections

View a connection

Expand a provider's card to view its Region, a single truncated Public key, and its Created at date.

Set the active provider

The active provider runs your organization's new remote AI tasks. Setting a connected provider as active replaces the current provider for new tasks; tasks already running are unaffected.

Switch the active provider

  1. In the sidebar, under Integrations, select Cloud providers.

  2. Next to the connection you want to activate, click Set active.

  3. Confirm by clicking Set active in the dialog.

The selected provider's card is marked Active.

To return to JetBrains-managed compute, click Set active on the JetBrains Cloud card and confirm the change.

Remove a cloud provider

  1. In the sidebar, under Integrations, select Cloud providers.

  2. Next to the connection, click Ellipsis icon and select Remove provider.

  3. In the confirmation dialog, click Remove.
