# Assign licenses with AI to users

> **Note:**
> Assigning licenses with AI  requires the [Manage AI access](roles.html#permissions_manage_ai_access) or [Manage organization](roles.html#permissions_manage_org) permission.
>
> * The following default roles include the [Manage AI access](roles.html#permissions_manage_ai_access) permission: [Org admin](roles.html#org_admin), [AI admin](roles.html#ai_admin).
>
> * The only default role that includes the [Manage organization](roles.html#permissions_manage_org) permission is [Org admin](roles.html#org_admin).

You can assign available [licenses with AI](ai-management.html#license-with-ai) to users in your organization. If there are no available licenses, you can [revoke them from other users](revoke-licenses-with-ai-from-users.html) and then reassign these licenses. Or you can [purchase additional licenses with AI](purchase-additional-licenses-with-ai.html) for your organization.

> **Note:**
> You can only assign licenses to users within your organization. If a user is not yet a member, add them first and refresh the Users and licensing page before assigning licenses. For details, see [Add users](users.html#add_users).

Procedure: Assign licenses with AI to users

1. Log in to [JetBrains Central Console](https://account.jetbrains.com).

2. In the sidebar, under AI management, select Users and licensing.

If you don't see this page, or the controls on this page are not available, your role doesn't have the necessary [permissions](roles.html#permissions).

3. In the upper right corner, click Assign licenses.

If no licenses are available, the Assign licenses with AI popup suggests purchasing additional licenses. For details, see [Purchase additional licenses with AI](purchase-additional-licenses-with-ai.html).

4. In the Assign licenses with AI popup, start typing a user name or email address, or click the arrow to open the dropdown and select the user.

If the user is not found, a message in the dropdown suggests adding them to your organization. For details, see [Add users](users.html#add_users).

5. Repeat the previous step for each additional user who needs a license.

6. For each user, select a license with AI from the license selection dropdown next to the user name.

7. Click Assign licenses.

A success message appears in the lower right corner, and the assigned licenses are displayed in the Licenses and quotas column.

> **Tip:**
> To assign multiple licenses to the same user, repeat this procedure for each license. For example, to assign two licenses to one user, complete this procedure two times.

If the license assignment fails, click Retry assignment in the popup and try again.
