# Settings

> **Note:**
> Viewing the page requires the [View AI settings](roles.html#permissions_view_ai_settings) permission. Managing settings requires the [Manage AI settings](roles.html#permissions_manage_ai_settings) or [Manage organization](roles.html#permissions_manage_org) permission.

Use the Settings page to enable [JetBrains AI](https://www.jetbrains.com.cn/en-us/ai/) in your organization, manage which teams have access to it, buy AI licenses, add top-up AI Credits, and control data collection options. Additionally, it shows the status of [AI Enterprise](https://www.jetbrains.com.cn/en-us/ide-services/ai-enterprise/), which is part of the [JetBrains IDE Services](https://www.jetbrains.com.cn/en-us/ide-services/) suite.

By default, JetBrains AI is disabled for everyone in your organization. You can choose to enable it for all users at once or [manage access to JetBrains AI on the team level](team-based-jb-ai-access.html).

> **Note:**
> Enabling JetBrains AI provides access for your developers to [various AI tools and features in IDEs](https://www.jetbrains.com.cn/en-us/ai-ides/) including coding agents integrated into JetBrains IDEs, such as [Junie](https://www.jetbrains.com.cn/en-us/junie/) and [Claude Agent](https://blog.jetbrains.com/ai/2025/09/introducing-claude-agent-in-jetbrains-ides/). It does not provide access to third-party AI tools by other vendors.

Procedure: Enable JetBrains AI

1. Expand the AI management section and select Settings.

If you don't see this page, or the controls on this page are not available, your role doesn't have the necessary [permissions](roles.html#permissions).

On the Settings page, below the On and Off switches, you will see the AI assets available for your organization, such as AI licenses, credits, and the AI Enterprise subscription. If you don't see anything there, then you don't have any usable AI assets in your organization.

2. Click On to enable JetBrains AI for your organization.

3. Select one of the following options:

* Everyone to enable JetBrains AI for all users in your organization.

* Users with specific licenses to enable JetBrains AI for specific teams. In this case, add the teams you want to allow access for in the field below. For more information, see [Team-based JetBrains AI access](team-based-jb-ai-access.html).

4. Click Save access settings and wait for the changes to take effect.

> **Note:**
> It may take up to one hour for the settings to update.

Procedure: Change JetBrains AI access settings

1. Expand the AI management section and select Settings.

If you don't see this page, or the controls on this page are not available, your role doesn't have the necessary [permissions](roles.html#permissions).

2. Click Change access settings in the top right of the Settings page.

3. In the Change AI access settings dialog, either select Off to disable JetBrains AI access for everyone in your organization or select one of the following options below:

* Everyone to enable JetBrains AI for all users in your organization.

* Users with specific licenses to enable JetBrains AI for specific teams. In this case, add the teams you want to allow access for in the field below. For more information, see [Team-based JetBrains AI access](team-based-jb-ai-access.html).

> **Note:**
> The Off option applies only to release IDE builds activated with a license owned by your organization. It does not apply to IDE EAP builds or Community editions.

4. Click Save changes and wait for the changes to take effect.

> **Note:**
> It may take up to one hour for the settings to update.

Procedure: Speed up JetBrains AI activation

Instead of waiting for the AI settings changes to propagate to specific IDEs automatically, developers can manually re-activate their IDE licenses to speed up this process. Here is what a developer needs to do:

1. Select Help | Register in their IDE.

2. In the Licenses dialog, click Remove License.

3. Activate their license again using the method preferred in your organization.

4. Restart the IDE.

During activation, the IDE will get updated AI settings from the license server, making AI features, such as AI Assistant, available immediately.

Procedure: Buy first AI licenses

1. Expand the AI management section and select Settings.

If you don't see this page, or the controls on this page are not available, your role doesn't have the necessary [permissions](roles.html#permissions).

If there are no licenses with AI available for your organization, this page will have links inviting you to purchase AI licenses.

2. Although your users can still use the free AI features without a license, to enable the full potential of JetBrains AI, click Buy on the corresponding license type.

3. On the eStore page with the quote, select how many licenses you need, provide payment details, and pay for the subscriptions. After you have paid, the corresponding licenses will be available for your organization.
