# Manage AI credits

[AI credits](plans-and-pricing.html#ai-credits) are the virtual currency for AI-powered features. AI usage across users and service accounts is charged against the organization's shared pool of AI credits. You can set a monthly credit limit for each user or service account and change it at any time.

> **Note:**
> Viewing the page requires the [View AI access](roles.html#permissions_view_ai_access) permission. Managing AI credits requires the [Manage AI access](roles.html#permissions_manage_ai_access) or [Manage organization](roles.html#permissions_manage_org) permission.
>
> If you have the [View AI access](roles.html#permissions_view_ai_access) or [Manage AI access](roles.html#permissions_manage_ai_access) permission through a [group-scoped role](roles.html#role-scopes), you can view or manage only that group's members, including its subgroups.

## Set AI credit limits

You can set a custom monthly [AI credit limit](ai-governance.html#ai-credit-limit) for any user or service account with [AI access](ai-access.html). A custom limit overrides the default limit set on the [AI settings](ai-settings.html) page. You can adjust the limit or reset it to the default at any time.

You can change the limit for multiple users or service accounts at once. This is useful when, for example, several users or service accounts have reached or are close to their limits, and you need to update them simultaneously.

Procedure: Set a credit limit

1. In the sidebar, under AI governance, select Access.

If you don't see this page, or the controls on this page are inactive, your role doesn't have the necessary [permissions](roles.html#permissions).

2. Select the Users or Service accounts tab and search for a user or service account either by scrolling through the list or using the search field at the top of the table.

3. In the corresponding row, click the value in the Credit limit column.

> **Tip:**
> Alternatively, you can click ![Ellipsis icon](images/union.svg) and select Change credit limit.

To change the credit limit for multiple users or service accounts, select them using checkboxes in the User or Service accounts column and click Change credit limit on the toolbar below the table.

4. In the dialog, specify a limit in the AI credits per month field.

5. Click Save limit.

A success message appears in the lower right corner.

Procedure: Reset a credit limit to default

4. In the dialog, click Reset to default.

A success message appears in the lower right corner.

## Monitor AI credit usage

The AI access page shows current monthly AI credit usage for users and service accounts in your organization. You can check how many AI credits they spent this month and how many AI credits remain available.

Procedure: View available AI credits for the organization

1. In the sidebar, under AI governance, select Access.

If you don't see this page, your role doesn't have the necessary [permissions](roles.html#permissions).

2. Review the value in the AI credits available information card at the top of the page.

This value shows the total number of AI credits available across all sources in your organization.

> **Note:**
> The AI credits available information card is shown only if you have the [View AI access](roles.html#permissions_view_ai_access) permission and either the [Manage licensing and billing](roles.html#permissions_manage_licensing_and_billing) or the [View AI settings](roles.html#permissions_view_ai_settings) permission.

Procedure: View current AI credit usage

1. In the sidebar, under AI governance, select Access.

If you don't see this page, your role doesn't have the necessary [permissions](roles.html#permissions).

2. Select the Users or Service accounts tab and search for a user or service account either by scrolling through the list or using the search field at the top of the table.

3. Review the value in the Balance used column in the table.

This value shows the percentage of [AI credits](ai-governance.html#ai-credits) of the monthly credit limit that was consumed this month.

> **Tip:**
> When reviewing Balance used, keep in mind that a user-initiated action running through a service account is attributed to the user, not the service account. This is why a service account may show lower usage than expected or a user's usage may be higher than expected. For details, see [Service account usage costs](service-accounts.html#service-account-usage-costs).

> **Note:**
> The value in the Balance used column may exceed 100% in the following cases:
>
> * The Credit limit value is reduced for the user or service account after they have already reached their previous limit in the same month.
>
> * Multiple AI requests start in parallel when the user or service account is close to their limit. In this case, all requests are processed, even if together they exceed the limit. As a result, the final usage can be slightly above 100%.

Procedure: Access the AI credit usage report

1. In the sidebar, under AI governance, select Access.

If you don't see this page, your role doesn't have the necessary [permissions](roles.html#permissions).

2. In the AI credits available information card, click Usage report.

> **Note:**
> This link is visible to anyone who can view this page. Viewing the report additionally requires the [View AI analytics](roles.html#permissions_view_ai_analytics) permission.

3. Review the data on the Credit consumption page. For details, see [Credit consumption](ai-credits-consumption.html).

When one or more users or service accounts have reached or are close to their AI credit limit (Balance used is 80% or higher), the Users with AI access or Service accounts with AI access information card display the number of those users or service accounts, along with the Users almost out of AI credits or Service accounts almost out of AI credits link to view them.

Procedure: Identify users or service accounts running low on AI credits

1. In the sidebar, under AI governance, select Access.

If you don't see this page, or the controls on this page are inactive, your role doesn't have the necessary [permissions](roles.html#permissions).

2. Select the Users or Service accounts tab.

3. In the Users with AI access or Service accounts with AI access information card at the top of the page, click Users almost out of AI credits or Service accounts almost out of AI credits correspondingly.

Users or service accounts that have reached or are close to their credit limit are selected in the table. If needed, you can [change](#set-credit-limit) or [reset](#reset-credit-limit) their limits using the toolbar below the table.
