# Connect to GitHub

> For the complete documentation index, see [llms.txt](https://www.jetbrains.com.cn/en-us/help/jetbrains-console/llms.txt).

Initially, the Indexing by JetBrains Central tab only shows repositories that have already been indexed, for example, repositories that users connected in Air Teams. To include the rest of the organization's GitHub repositories and manage their indexing from JetBrains Central Console, an admin must connect JetBrains Central Console to GitHub.

> **Note:**
> The GitHub connection is configured globally for your organization. Connecting or disconnecting here also applies to the other JetBrains Central products that use GitHub, such as [Air Teams](https://www.jetbrains.com.cn/en-us/help/air/what-is-air-teams.html), not only to Air Context. Self-hosted version control systems, such as GitHub Enterprise Server, are connected on the [Hosted VCS](hosted-vcs.html) page instead.

> **Note:**
> Managing indexing settings and repositories in Air Context requires either the [JetBrains Context administrator](roles.html#context-admin) role or the [Manage organization](roles.html#permissions_manage_org) permission in JetBrains Central Console.

Procedure: Connect to GitHub

1. In the sidebar, under Integrations, select Air Context.

If you don't see this page, your role doesn't have the necessary [permissions](roles.html#permissions).

2. In the GitHub pane at the top of the page, click Connect to GitHub.

The Connect to GitHub — global configuration dialog reminds you that the connection applies to all JetBrains Central products that use GitHub.

3. Click Continue.

GitHub opens the authorization page for the JetBrains Air application.

4. Click Authorize.

GitHub redirects you back to JetBrains Central Console.

> **Note:**
> Authorizing the JetBrains Air application for your GitHub account grants access to your personal repositories only. To make the organization's repositories available, the application must also be installed in GitHub for the organization that owns them. A user with administrative permissions in that GitHub organization does this once. For details, see [Connect repositories](https://www.jetbrains.com.cn/en-us/help/air/connect-repositories.html) in the JetBrains Air documentation.

Once the connection is established, JetBrains Central Console updates the Indexing by JetBrains Central tab, adding the repositories discovered in the organization's GitHub account with the Not indexed status. Connecting does not start any indexing by itself: you [start
indexing the discovered repositories](manage-individual-repository-indexing.html#trigger-repository-indexing) from JetBrains Central Console. Repositories that users connect in Air Teams are indexed automatically.

The Indexing state is only visible during the first indexing. Periodic indexing happens under the hood, without visible progress indicators.

Procedure: Restore a lost connection to GitHub

If an admin has removed the JetBrains Air app from the list of connected apps on GitHub, the connection is lost: the already indexed repositories are still listed, but JetBrains Central Console can't discover new repositories or start indexing jobs.

1. In the GitHub pane at the top of the page, click Reconnect.

A confirmation dialog is displayed.

2. Click Reconnect to confirm.

3. Complete the GitHub authorization process with the account you used initially.

The connection is restored.

Procedure: Disconnect from GitHub

Disconnecting from GitHub stops JetBrains Central Console from discovering the organization's GitHub repositories and from starting new indexing jobs for them. Because the connection is configured globally, disconnecting also affects the other JetBrains Central products that use GitHub.

1. In the GitHub pane at the top of the page, click Disconnect.

A confirmation dialog is displayed.

2. Confirm that you want to disconnect.
