# Instance-wide data sources

> Requires the Admin or Super Admin role.

In Datalore On-Premises, you can create instance-wide data connections to databases and cloud storage providers, making them available in all workspaces without extra setup.

Procedure: Add a database connection

1. Click your avatar at the top right and select Admin panel.

2. In the sidebar, select ![Document](https://resources.jetbrains.com.cn/help/img/datalore/2026.3/document.svg)Data.

3. Switch to the Instance-wide databases tab.

4. Click ![Plus](https://resources.jetbrains.com.cn/help/img/datalore/2026.3/plus.svg)New database connection.

5. Follow the instructions in [Configure a database connection](configure-a-database-connection.html#configure-a-connection-using-database-specific-interface).

Once the connection is created, it will appear in the ![Document](https://resources.jetbrains.com.cn/help/img/datalore/2026.3/document.svg)Data section of all workspaces.

Procedure: Add a cloud storage connection

> **Note: Security considerations**
> All users of your Datalore instance may access the credentials of instance-wide cloud storage connections. Make sure you regularly rotate credentials, especially when users leave your organization, change roles, or when other security events occur.

1. Click your avatar at the top right and select Admin panel.

2. In the sidebar, select ![Document](https://resources.jetbrains.com.cn/help/img/datalore/2026.3/document.svg)Data.

3. Switch to the Instance-wide cloud storage tab.

4. Click ![Plus](https://resources.jetbrains.com.cn/help/img/datalore/2026.3/plus.svg)New cloud storage connection.

5. Follow the instructions for your data source type:

* [Amazon S3 or S3-compatible storage](connect-to-an-amazon-s3-cloud-storage.html)

* [Google Cloud Storage](connect-to-a-google-cloud-cloud-storage.html)

* [SMB/CIFS folder](connect-to-an-smb-cifs-folder.html)

Once the connection is created, it will appear in the ![Document](https://resources.jetbrains.com.cn/help/img/datalore/2026.3/document.svg)Data section of all workspaces.

Procedure: Manage connections

Although instance-wide database and cloud storage connections are shared across all workspaces and accessible to all users, they can only be edited or deleted from the Admin panel. Users cannot manage these connections from within a workspace.

1. Click your avatar at the top right and select Admin panel.

2. In the sidebar, select ![Document](https://resources.jetbrains.com.cn/help/img/datalore/2026.3/document.svg)Data.

3. Switch to the Instance-wide databases or Instance-wide cloud storage tab depending on what connection you want to edit or delete.

4. Do one of the following:

Rename:

1. Click ··· next to the connection and select Rename.

2. Enter a new connection name

3. Press `Enter` (Windows), `Return` (macOS).

Edit:

1. Click ··· next to the connection and select Edit.

2. In the dialog, modify the connection parameters and click Save and close.

Delete:

1. Click ··· next to the connection and select Delete.
