# Enable gift codes

[Gift codes](gift-codes.html) are redeemable codes that allow Datalore On-Premises users to access more computation resources or storage than their current plan allows.

Procedure: Enable gift codes

Docker deployment:

1.

If you have not already, [configure plans](configure-plans.html).

Gift codes allow users to use resources beyond their plans, which is why plan configuration is necessary.

2.

In `docker-compose.yaml`, set `GIFT_CODES_ENABLED` to `true`:

```YAML
services:
  datalore:
    ...
    environment:
      ...
      GIFT_CODES_ENABLED: "true"
```

Kubernetes deployment:

1.
