Manage Dev Environment Templates
View templates
To view all templates in CodeCanvas (system admin view)
In the sidebar menu, select Administration, then Templates.
Use filters on top of the page to choose templates by visibility and by computing platform.
To view templates created within a namespace
Select Namespaces in the header navigation, then select the namespace you need.
In the sidebar menu, select Templates.
Use the filter on top of the page to choose templates by visibility.
Edit a template
Select Namespaces in the header navigation, then select the namespace where you want to edit a template.
In the sidebar namespace menu, select Templates and click Edit next to the template you want to edit.
How editing a template affects dev environments
New and existing dev environments – CodeCanvas will use the updated template settings for new dev environments. The existing dev environments using this template are not affected.
Warm-up snapshots – CodeCanvas will use the updated template settings to create new warm-up snapshots. The existing warm-up snapshots are not affected.
Standby pool – After you update the template, CodeCanvas will restart all free dev environments in the standby pool to apply the changes. The dev environments in use are not affected.
View history of changes
Select Namespaces in the header navigation, then select the namespace that contains the template.
In the sidebar namespace menu, select Templates and select the required template.
Open the History section.
Delete a template
Select Namespaces in the header navigation, then select the namespace where you want to delete a template.
In the sidebar namespace menu, select Templates and click Delete next to the template you want to delete.
What happens when you delete a template
Dev environments – The existing dev environments aren't affected.
Warm-up snapshots – The existing warm-up snapshots aren't affected.
Standby pool – The dev environments in use aren't affected.
Track user activity per template
You can track how a particular dev environment template is used over time. To do this, open the template and go to the User Activity section.
Choose a month to view the following metrics:
Unique Active Users – how many unique users started at least one dev environment per day from this template. Such users are also called daily active users (DAU).
The Total users metric shows the total number of unique users for the selected month.
New Dev Environments – how many new dev environments were created each day from this template. This number doesn't include the environments that were stopped and then started again.
The Total new dev environments metric shows the total number of new dev environments for the selected month.
